This workshop is an introduction to the practice of Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration (PHRI). It will provide participants with tools for educating clients about altered states of consciousness and how to integrate these experiences.strong

Harm reduction will be emphasized throughout the process - from assessment, preparation, the experiential session, to integration. Participants will be given a framework for working with clients during integration, emphasizing somatic and mindful inquiry. This will incorporate elements from a variety of therapeutic modalities, from modern bio-medical to traditional Indigenous perspectives.

These programs are open to health care providers and members of the general public looking to dive into the harm reduction and integration framework in the context of psychedelic medicines.

This course has been accredited through the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), the l'Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ), and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). This is applicable to regulated professionals.

Support your clients as they navigate and interpret their psychedelic experiences

Through this 2-part Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration (PHRI) training, you will learn the tools to help educate clients about altered states of consciousness and how to integrate these experiences afterward. By using several case studies, we will explore common themes that arise during PHRI therapy, as well as provide a framework for working with clients during integration, emphasizing somatic and mindful inquiry. This will incorporate elements from a variety of therapeutic modalities, from modern bio-medical to traditional Indigenous perspectives.

Developed by a physician, a psychologist, and an integration therapist, this training draws upon clinical experience, current evidence, and state of best practices in the field of psychedelic-assisted therapy.

After this course, you'll be able to:

  • Assess the client needs during the different stages of the psychedelic journey

  • Apply a harm reduction framework to assessment, preparation, and integration

  • Articulate the current ethical limitations and considerations of psychedelic harm reduction

  • Support and guide clients through the integration process at an introductory level

Meet your facilitators:

Deanna Rogers H BA, MA C (in progress)

Deanna has been working with plant medicines for over the last decade for personal healing and discovery. She has worked with the Temple of the Way of Light, The Integration Circle, and has run her own private practice for the last five years. She has also collaborated with psychedelic leaders such as Double-Blind Magazine and Psychedelics Today. She has worked in this field for the last ten years and has supported hundreds of people with many aspects of plant medicine and psychedelic experiences including applicant assessment, program design, preparation, retreat facilitation, group processing, and integration support, and has run several psychedelic harm reduction focused consultation groups for healthcare professionals. Her goal is to empower people to cultivate a deep connection to self, to help integrate trauma and align to their path going forward. She has trained with and is inspired by Indigenous Healers, Dr. Gabor Maté, Compassionate Inquiry, Somatic Experiencing, and is currently doing her master's in counseling psychology. Curiosity and compassion are two of the main tools that she brings to this work.

Dr. Joe Flanders PhD

Dr. Flanders is a psychologist and the Founder and Regional Director of Mindspace. He obtained his PhD in Clinical Psychology from McGill University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is also an Assistant Professor (Professional) in the McGill University Psychology Department and the Vice President of Practitioner Training at Numinus Wellness. He is licensed with the Québec Order of Psychologists. In his active psychotherapy practice, he supports the healing of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, work stress, relationship problems, and personal and spiritual growth. Joe has been trained to deliver psychedelic-assisted therapy through Numinus and the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). He also has extensive training in Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based psychotherapy. He holds the Advanced Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Facilitation Certification from the Centre for Mindfulness Studies (CMS) and the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto (FIFSW) as well as the Advanced Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Facilitation Certification from the CMS. He is an approved MBSR mentor with CMS.

  • Will a certificate of completion be offered to participants?
    • Yes - for 7 hours.
  • If I'm unable to join a session, will a recording be provided to me?
