Practicum Pre-Work Module

Conclusion

Module Description

Consent was a main topic of this module since the client needs to provide ongoing consent for you to be present in the therapy room as an observer. We revisited trauma- and violence-informed care and refreshed our memories on ways to embody this in the therapy room. We also revisited cultural safety and humility by looking at some additional ways in which Indigenous Peoples do not feel safe when accessing healthcare due to systemic racism and lack of sufficient care. Finally, we briefly discussed the layers of embodied inquiry so that you can recognize when this approach is being used in the therapy room. Best of luck during your practicum!
