“The past can’t be changed – but we can change how our bodies hold it.”
–Mariah Moser (n.d., personal communication)
In this module, we focused on embodiment-oriented competencies like interoceptive awareness, awareness of embodied oppression, dual awareness, implicit memory, and somatic inquiry (including SIBAM and core organizers of experience). We then discussed how to incorporate a therapeutic supportive touch in your psychedelic-assisted therapy sessions. The psychological flexibility model, rooted in acceptance and commitment therapy, presented the hexaflex model, and introduced the ACE model. Finally, we learned about internal family systems and how to work with multiplicity of Self from an internal family systems lens.
The following assessments are due shortly.
Module 3 Knowledge Check due at the end of Week 3

As you progress throughout your week, reflect on the following question(s). There is no required written response, rather it is a key takeaway to reflect on. If you would like, you can share your response on Flip.
What might be the benefit for health professionals having had personal experiences with altered states of consciousness prior to delivering psychedelic-assisted therapy? What might be the downside? What challenges might health professionals face who have not had personal experience with altered states?
