During our review of the content across the prerequisite courses for Practical Applications, we revisited important considerations for assessment, preparation, and integration as well as key considerations for the administration of the medicine during Medicine Sessions.
We also learned about the Numinus care model, rooted in an integrative and transformative mental wellness approach to healthcare. The seven guiding principles of the Numinus care model include cultural safety and humility, justice, equity, dignity, and inclusion, trauma- and violence-informed care, connection, mindfulness, embodiment, and harm reduction.
The characteristics of the therapeutic stance are intended to be a guide for health professionals. The characteristics include inner-directed therapy, unconditional positive regard, love (agapic), empathetic abiding presence and listening, being grounded, self regulated, and aligned, orientation towards phenomenology, relationship centered care, appreciation for human suffering, self-awareness and ethical integrity, and top-down and bottom-up processing.
