Devon Christie

Biography

Dr. Christie MD is a clinical instructor with the UBC Department of Medicine and has a focused practice in chronic pain management. She is also a Registered Counsellor emphasizing Relational Somatic Therapy for trauma resolution, and a certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher (UCSD). She is trained to deliver both MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD (MAPS USA) and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. She teaches for the California Institute of Integral Studies Certificate Program in Psychedelic Therapy and Research, the Integrative Psychiatry Institute Certificate Program in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy, and the ONCA Foundation Psychedelic Therapy program. She is a Principal Investigator and study therapist for a current Canadian MAPS PBC-sponsored 20-participant open-label clinical trial investigating MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD. Devon is the Medical and Therapeutic Services Director with Numinus Wellness Inc., and is a recognized speaker and expert on the potential for incorporating psychedelic assisted therapies in an improved health care model for the future.

Biography

Dr. Patricia Rockman is a family physician with a focused practice in mental health. She is the co-founder of and senior director of education and clinical services for the Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto. She is responsible for curriculum development, service delivery and professional training. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, cross-appointed to Psychiatry. Patricia Rockman has extensive experience teaching healthcare providers in the areas of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Change Management and Stress Reduction, Mindfulness Based Programs and most recently in psychedelic assisted psychotherapy. She has a strong interest in continuing education in mental health and addictions, yoga and meditative practice. She is a co-author of a number of books and articles, including Managing Uncertainty in Mental Healthcare, published by Oxford University Press.

Biography

Deanna has been working with plant medicines for over the last decade for personal healing and discovery. She has worked with the Temple of the Way of Light, The Integration Circle, and has run her own private practice for the last five years. She has also collaborated with psychedelic leaders such as Double-Blind Magazine and Psychedelics Today. She has worked in this field for the last ten years and has supported hundreds of people with many aspects of plant medicine and psychedelic experiences including applicant assessment, program design, preparation, retreat facilitation, group processing, and integration support, and has run several psychedelic harm reduction focused consultation groups for healthcare professionals. Her goal is to empower people to cultivate a deep connection to self, to help integrate trauma and align to their path going forward. She has trained with and is inspired by Indigenous Healers, Dr. Gabor Maté, Compassionate Inquiry, Somatic Experiencing, and is currently doing her master’s in counseling psychology. Curiosity and compassion are two of the main tools that she brings to this work.

Biography

Cody has over 15 years’ experience as a social worker and researcher in the field of addictions and mental health. He addresses issues such as addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, relationships, grief and loss, and personal growth. Cody has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Social Work degree from University of British Columbia.

Cody is also a graduate of the California Institute of Integral Studies Psychedelic-assisted Psychotherapy and Research certificate program and has additional training in mdma- and ketamine-assisted therapy.

Cody is the Lead of Psychedelic Programs and Numinus where he provides ketamine-assisted therapy and is contributing to the development of a variety of clinical and research programs. He has also served as a therapist on a study using MDMA-assisted psychotherapy to treat post-traumatic stress disorder.

Cody’s therapeutic orientations include relational somatic therapy, compassionate inquiry, mindfulness based counseling, and motivational interviewing. Cody is passionate about providing preparation and integration support for people working with plant medicines and psychedelics. Cody draws from his academic training, professional experiences, psychedelic research, and his own medicine work and contemplation practices to inform his work.

Biography

Liz is a Utah based Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has an eclectic background working and living with individuals and family systems of all abilities and ages (people with disabilities/sudden/chronic illnesses and children in the foster system). Liz is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), is a qualified teacher of MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Brown University), and has training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention, Existential Therapy, Grief and Loss Companioning, Internal Family Systems, Ketamine/Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (KAP), Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma informed yoga (completed 200 hour training). Liz is currently working as a therapist with Cedar Clinical Research and the Chronic and Serious Illness Program. Liz also holds a Master’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation.

When not at Numinus, Liz runs a small private practice where her goal is to build a safe and trusting environment that allows those who walk through the door to empower themselves to heal and grow. It is Liz’s hope that everyone leave her office feeling heard and supported – even during the most difficult of times.

Biography

Dr. Paul Thielking is board certified in psychiatry, hospice & palliative medicine, and integrative medicine. Dr. Thielking is the principal investigator for a psilocybin enhanced group psychotherapy intervention for cancer patients with depression and a co-investigator on a study for ketamine-assisted psychotherapy for opioid use disorder. He has extensive experience with creating innovative group therapy interventions for patients with serious illness and has successfully integrated ketamine-assisted psychotherapy services within an academic outpatient oncology clinic for cancer patients with depression. Dr. Thielking was director of psycho-oncology at the University of Utah Huntsman Cancer Institute for five years and was previously an associate professor in the department of psychiatry at the University of Utah. He was also the medical director of the tobacco treatment program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. He has extensive experience with medical students, residents and fellows. Dr. Thielking is a graduate of the California Institute of Integrative Studies’ Certification of Psychedelic Therapy and Research program.
