Module Summary
We explored how psychedelic-assisted therapies have transdiagnostic potential given that they are able to influence transdiagnostic factors noted for both depression and anxiety. We looked at the DSM criteria for depressive and anxiety disorders, including anxiety-related disorders like obsessive compulsive and related disorders and trauma- and stressor-related disorders. We also looked at some key transdiagnostic considerations for treating anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and both since there is high comorbidity between the two. Finally, we reviewed some key studies that investigated psychedelic-assisted therapy for anxiety and depressive disorders.
